FAA Awards Dinner

About a month ago, Tye was nominated as Flight Instructor of the Year for the state of Arizona and last night we went down to Phoenix to see if he won the award. It was held at the Doubletree Hotel downtown. There were about 200 people at this event from all over the state and it specifically is a aviation safety focused event. There were several people from Embry Riddle (the school where Tye teaches) nominated for various awards. Unfortunately, none of the guys won any of the awards. Tye was in the top 3 out of 3500 instructors in the state. Even though he didn't win, we count that as a HUGE accomplishment. So proud of him.
Here is the write up they had on him in the program:

Tye has made great strides in the aviation industry by developing informational articles and educating those in the aviation community to improve safety. He has volunteered for several events to educate young kids and offers them the opportunity to become fascinated and interested in aviation. These events give kids the opportunity to earn badges, take flights, and learn how an aircraft operates. Tye is a Check Instructor for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is recognized for his contribution to the safety department and his proactive guidance in flight operations. Due to his ability to recognize a student's error in training, Tye is often asked to work with student's having difficulty to successfully move them along in training. Tye's determination to always keep pushing forward and to stay ahead of each new challenge is reflected in his student's success.

Here are a few pictures from our night......

Even though he didn't win Instructor of the Year, he did win this lovely door prize. Doesn't he look so excited?

And I also won this lovely door prize. It's a study guide for a flying test. I'll definitely be putting this to good use........

All dressed up in the lobby of the hotel. (It's a little blurry. You'd think the front desk guy could have figured this out. hahhaa)

A full length shot. Don't we just look fabulous?
