A Day At Snowbowl

For those of you who dont know, Arizona has not one, but two ski resorts. Most people think its all desert and cactuses. And for the most part they would be right. But up in Flagstaff there are some mountains (nothing compared to the beautiful Rocky Mountains) and those mountains get some snow. So if you love snowsports and need a fix which doesnt involve driving to Colorado or Utah, you head to Flagstaff. They had gotten some snow during Christmas time and despite warmer temps were still open yesterday for some mid week fun. We headed up with our friends, the Rowans. It was a blast to spend the day with them and get to break in the boards for the first run of the season.

This is Christine and I. Yes, she looks that good even while snowboarding.

Tye and Jordan. Twin brothers seperated at birth.

Christine and Jordan. It was a tad bit breezy up on the hill.

Jordan and Tye just waiting around.

Riding up for one last run.

Home Improvements

When we moved into our new house in November, I swore that I wasnt going to need to do any painting. I liked the color that was already painted and could easily decorate with that. However, the more I have sat in my living room the more I have thought about changing it up a little bit. So, a couple of days ago we embarked on painting the entryway from a tannish brown color to a blue. I hated it when we did the sample on the wall but now that the entire thing is done, I really like it. I am planning on covering the walls with black and white photos. The idea was inspired by a page out of the fall Pottery Barn catalog. I hope it turns out as good as the picture in my head!

This is the entryway pre-painting.

This is post-painting. I'll update as the pictures get hung. Im so excited to finally get some stuff on these walls!

Kodiak Update

It has been brought to my attention yet again that I am WAY behind in my blog postings. Keeping up with all this stuff (stuff being the social networking world) is tough business! Everyone wants in on the action! Well, today I vow to be better. A better documenter of the life of the Jones'. You have my word that it will be better. So on to the first of a few updates. Kodi turned 8 weeks last Thursday, clearing him to get his first shot. It was a crazy morning at the Humane Society clinic but to save some money it was worth putting up with the craziness.

Kodi did a great job remaining calm around the 15 other dogs in the room (although at one point he used his claws and tried to climb up my face. That didnt feel too great). He weighed in at 5 lbs which I guess is pretty good. The vet didnt say one way or another.

He's finally gotten adjusted to life without his sister and ha started to play with his toys more. He also knows how to sit and stay. We are working on lying down currently. He's a very smart dog and we cant wait to teach him more.

A New Family Member

Thats right. You read it correctly. We had a baby last week AND have kept it secret from everyone we know AND this is how we have decided to tell the family.......hahahhaha.....just kidding. We did add a new member to the family but it wasnt a baby (sorry Ma). Last Monday, we brought home two 6 week old Black Lab/German Shepherd puppies.

The one on the left is the girl, Juno and the one on the right is the boy, Kodiak (Kodi for short)
Little did we know that it is not advised to take two puppies from the same litter for all sorts of reasons. Plus it was WAY too much work because you have to seperate the puppies for EVERYTHING. Feeding, playing, bathroom, etc. A LOT of work!
So after a lot of careful consideration, we gave Juno to a local rescue and let them find her a good home. So now we are having a blast raising Kodi in the ways of the Jones household.

See. Hes taken to it already.
He is not our beloved Princess, nor will he replace her but he'll be a wonderful addition to our family. We can't wait for you all to meet him one day.

Christmas 2010

Well, its all over. It seems like just as fast as it comes, its all over with. Its sort of depressing really. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and I am always sad to see it go.....enough of the depression. Lets move on to the good stuff!
This Christmas we headed down to Lubbock, TX to celebrate with Tyes family and then to Duncan, OK to celebrate with his dad. It was a whirlwind trip packed full of memories. Heres the abbreviated picture version of our trip:

We had a blast playing with the nieces and nephew. This is Nick and Jordan. Cuties.

We dressed like characters from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for Christmas Eve. We looked good!

All of Tye's siblings were together for the first time in a long time. It was soo good to see them and Tye's mom who is also in this picture.

On the 26th, we celebrated Christmas with the siblings and Tye's mom. It included a delicious lunch. This is Tye's brother, Josh, trying to drink chicken fat. He's gross.

A stop on the way to Duncan in Childress, TX where the kids went to school and grew up a bit. This is their old house. The town looks the same as it did back then.

We celebrated another Christmas in Duncan with Tye's dad. They spoil all of us so much! We had a blast watching the kids open gifts. This is Nicks Lego pirate ship. Tye was excited too.

We played in the pool the last night in Duncan. Kenzie loves her Uncle Tye!

All great things must come to an end and it was time to head home. This was our last reminder of Texas......they sure are proud.
