Now, I normally would take credit for all the work done on the lyrics for this song but I had a special guest lyricist helping me with the chorus. Way to go Ma!

More Snowboarding
This past weekend we were able to get out for another round of snowboarding. Mt. Hood is open for three more weekends and we are taking advantage of warm weather and still some decent snow conditions. We were laughing about how most people have packed up their stuff and have had it packed up for months and we are just breaking our stuff in. Here's some more photos from our mountain adventures.

A Walk In The Woods
About a month ago......geez, it's already been a full month?....anyways, about a month ago I headed to Colorado Springs for a Spring Break trip for myself. (I think everyone should get a week long break in March to pull themselves together. Not just when you are in school) Apparently I have a lot of side issues this morning.Well, I decided that I would read a book while on this trip. Now, i'm not much of a reader. These days I consider flipping through the REI catalog and looking at all the pretty gear pictures as reading. But now that I have all this free time on my hands, I thought I'd get back to my reading roots (we used to read massive amounts of books when we were kids). I'm not really sure how I stumbled on Bill Bryson's book. I love the outdoors and sports that take place there and recently went on my own backpacking adventure and somehow was looking for books on hiking, I think. I suppose it doesn't really matter HOW I stumbled upon this book.
The book: It's hilarious! About a middle-aged man who decides one day that he is going to hike the entire Appalachin Trail. If you know nothing about the Appalchin Trail, it starts in Georgia and ends in Maine. It is a couple thousand miles of trail thru some of the most incredible terrain.......or so I've seen pictures of it. The book talks about his incredible journey, the people he meets, and a lot of the history behind the making of the trail. It is incredibly humorous and so entertaining that I actually laughed out loud on the plane flights I was on. I recommend it if you are looking for an easy read and something that light hearted and fun.
Here's a funny quote from the book:
•Black bears rarely attack. But here's the thing. Sometimes they do. All bears are agile, cunning and immensely strong, and the are always hungry. If they want to kill you and eat you, they can, and pretty much whenever they want. That doesn't happen often, but - and here is the absolutely salient point - once would be enough.

Take me out to the ball game

Last night I played in my first softball game since High School. I was trying to figure out the last time I hit a ball and I believe it was my junior year. Well over 10 years ago. That's crazy. Considering I played a ton from a very young age it's been strange that there has been that big of a gap.
I played with some people from my new job with the city and it was a blast. I was worried about being a little rusty but ended up doing ok. I played right field, which if you know anything about baseball, the outfield is where you stick people that you don't think can handle the responsibility of catching anything. I didn't even have a glove of my own, had to borrow one, which makes me a perfect candidate for the outfield. Was gonna show up with a WalMart bag to catch flys with but opted against destroying our environment.
I had a couple successful outings at the plate. I had a bat that was too heavy on the first at bat and that promptly led me to ground out to third. But watch out for the second at bat. With a lighter bat in tow, I headed confidently to the plate. This is slow pitch softball. It takes the ball an average of 4 hours to get to the plate. It's easy to get over zealous and swing WAY ahead of the ball. I step into the batters box and go thru my steps. Practice swing 2 times, adjust the feet, adjust my shirt. It's a routine i've had forever. First pitch comes. I'm gonna kill it and launch it into the next time zone. Whiff! I cut the air with the bat faster than a hot knife thru butter. I believe the wind from my miss knocked the hat right off of the catcher. I stepped out of the batter box, looked at the umpire and said, "Man, that was embarrassing." He didn't even crack a smile. Rough crowd. Next ball was rolled across the front of the plate for a ball. I got reset. I will kill the next one. And sure enough, a line drive over the third basemans head. A single!!! It was beautiful. I almost cried. Just kidding.
It was a great night and a lot of fun to get out and meet people really for the first time since moving here. I look forward to getting to play some more.

Tye's cousin, Christopher is an actor who lives in England. He and his wife have starred in many many awesome productions, commercials, and all sorts of things in the past few years. This is his latest great work. It's really funny. He is the young guy with the American accent thru the entire video. Enjoy!
