Here's to Number 28!

Well, it's that blessed time of year again. The weather changes from cold to warm and it's time for baseball to start up again! I am so excited!!! It's time for another season of Yankees baseball and the quest to get World Championship number 28!
Yesterday, the Yankees opened up the 2011 season in New York against the Detroit Tigers. And finally we have cable again and were able to see the game!!! That makes me so happy! In Washington, they never played Yankees games......perhaps because we were in Seattle Mariners country but still......
It was a good showing for the first game and it looks like we could do some serious damage this year. The Yankees topped the Tigers 6-3 with a couple of beautiful home runs. Awesome. Well, in honor of Opening Day, here is a pic of Tye and I from the Yankee game we went to in Seattle in July. It was a great game.

Funny

Its funny how we characterize one thing as being worse than another. "Oh, you chopped your hand off? Well, at least it wasnt your entire arm." We do that with lots of stuff (although right now I am drawing a blank on some other examples but they are definitely out there). Things can always be worse.....
I went to the dermatologist about a month ago and had a spot on my forehead looked at. They cut off a piece of the spot and sent it away to be looked at. Sure enough the results came back as skin cancer. Weirdly enough I wasnt even surprised. I knew with all my irresponsible sun exposure that it was bound to happen. Besides, skin cancer runs in the family. And this was where I caught myself saying, "Well, its just skin cancer. Cancer but not cancer thats going to kill me today." Funny how we do that.
Today I had the cancer fully removed from my forehead. It didnt really take long and I had a fantastic surgeon working on me so I am hopeful that the scaring will be minimal. Of course Tye was there to catch some photos for the blog. Yep, we are still weird like that. Dont worry, they arent gross or anything.

All stitched up and ready to go!

And here's what I have to walk around looking like for the next 24 hours. Ridiculous.
Lesson learned. No more irresponsible sun exposure. I am buying stock in sunscreen today.

A Dream Trip

For a long time I have been fascinated with Everest and the Himalayan mountain range. I have watched many a shows on Everest expeditions and for a while even thought that it would be so cool to be able to climb Everest. That was back when I didn't really grasp the fact that it costs thousands of dollars to make the trip up and you have to spend about 2 months there in order to do the climb. Anyway, Tye and I are members of REI, which is an outdoor store that is located all around the country. I actually have a small addiction to outdoor gear. I love to shop for the latest and greatest in the world of outdoor sports. It's very soothing to me.........Sorry. I got lost in a moment there.........
I was looking at REI's website today because I've got some money to spend with them and came across the REI Adventures tab. I have been in this section of their website a lot just browsing through the many trips that they offer and I came across the trip of my dreams. They have just recently added an Everest lodge to lodge trek trip that lasts 14 days and takes you through some amazing views of the Himalayas and EVEREST!!!! The pictures are incredible and someday when I strike it rich, I want to go on this little adventure and see Everest in person.

Justin Unger Show

Last weekend, we had the privilege of getting to participate in our first Justin Unger show since moving back to Arizona from Washington. It was great to be back making music with Justin. (Well, it was great for Tye to be back making music with Justin again. I get to play the support role. I got to take pictures and hang out with Carson, Justin's oldest son, while the band did sound checks. I had a blast being there and hanging out with the guys.) He was doing a show at his home church, Northwest Community Church in Phoenix. It was a sold out crowd and a great night of music. Here are some pictures from the night.

A little pre concert pose for all the fans.

Bradley, Tye, and Justin playing away.

I stumbled across this recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread this evening and I must say based on the picture, I know that this is soon to be a Jones family favorite. The picture makes me want to eat my computer. You can find the recipe here:

More Snowshoeing Pics.......It's About Time!

As promised, (yes, I know it was promised like 2 weeks ago!) here are some more pics from our President's weekend snowshoeing day.

Getting the camera all set up to take another self portrait.

A perfect day in Breckenridge.

The sister and I.

The sister and I getting ready to roll out. I'm not completely sure why I am making a pirate face.

I sure do love the timer button on cameras. Ma, Sis, and I on the bridge going thru Breckenridge. It was such a cool bridge!

Headed through a patch of Aspens. Beautiful.

Yes, we look like professionals. No, we aren't professionals.

Towards the end of our 2 1/2 mile adventure around Breckenridge.
